Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Explain the strategic role of warehousing and inventory management within organizational operations, supply chains, and financial performance. 2. Apply core principles of warehouse management, including receiving, inspection, storage, issuance, customer service, and health & safety, to real operational contexts. 3. Evaluate the cost implications of holding inventory, including carrying costs, opportunity costs, and risk-related costs. 4. Design and assess warehouse layouts that optimize space utilization, material flow, safety, and operational efficiency. 5. Apply fundamental inventory management techniques, including FIFO/LIFO, receipting, transfers, issuance, reordering, and stock adjustments. 6. Maintain accurate inventory records and controls, including stock coding, records management, and cycle counting practices. 7. Analyze inventory discrepancies and variances, identifying root causes and proposing corrective actions. 8. Identify and select appropriate warehouse equipment, including storage systems, material handling equipment, and automated solutions based on operational needs. 9. Demonstrate understanding of logistics management principles, including documentation requirements relevant to Trinidad and Tobago operations. 10. Explain reverse logistics processes, including returns management, damaged goods handling, and recovery strategies. 11. Apply ethical, safety, and compliance considerations to warehouse and inventory decision-making. 12. Adopt a systems-thinking approach to warehouse and inventory management, recognizing these functions as structured, data-driven, and continuous improvement disciplines.

Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course; some prior knowledge in procurement is an added advantage; however, a briefing into the procurement process will be included in the course.
